Intermediate/Advanced CLASSES

All intermediate/advanced classes require the participant to have completed an Open Water Diver certification. Students are asked to provide all their equipment. Equipment can be rented at a preferential rate for the dive classes listed below.

Classes are available privately, in groups or on weekends. Please call us for additional information.

Exploration, Excitement, Experience, this is what it's about. This course helps you increase your skills & confidence so you fell more comfortable in the water. Designed to be taken right after your open water course, it's a great way to get more dies while continuing to learn under the supervision of an instructor.

What will I do?

This certification features five Advanced Dives, including Deep Dive, Underwater Navigation Dive and three of the following:

Rewarding and fun best describes the Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

What will I do?

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. You'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • Dive accident scenarios

How long will the course take?

The Emergency First Response course will take four hours after the student has completed the coursework. For the Rescue class, students receive a classroom session prior to attending two pool training sessions. The open water dives are completed in a single day.

PADI MASTER SCUBA DIVER

This certification denotes that you've reached the highest recreational diver level in the PADI System of diver education. PADI Master Scuba Diver indicates you have a significant amount of training and experience in a variety of dive environments.

What do I need to start?

Open Water Diver certification, Advanced Open Water Diver certification, Rescue Diver certification and 50 logged dives.

What is involved in the PADI Master SCUBA Diver certification?

A diver must attain five specialty certifications from the list below. Each one is unique and teaches different aspects of diving. The duration and intensity of each specialty varies with each.

The PADI Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest recreational level in the PADI system of diver education. But, you don't have to stop there! You can continue on to become a PADI Professional. As a Master Scuba Diver you'll be well qualified to begin your training as a PADI Divemaster.

PADI DIVEMASTER

Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI Divemaster. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

What can PADI Divemasters do?

  • Work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations
  • Assist Instructors with students
  • Lead Scuba Divers on guided dive tours
  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
  • Teach PADI Discover Snorkeling programs
  • Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers
  • Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences
  • Teach Emergency First Response programs after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

What do I need to start?

PADI Divemaster candidates must hold an Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications, have 20 logged dives and be at least 18 years old.

What will I do?

  • Learn dive leadership through classroom and independent study sessions
  • Learn about human physiology and dive science
  • Complete water skills and stamina exercises in confined and open water
  • Training exercises to test organizational and problem solving abilities
  • An internship or series of practical training exercises
  • How long will it take?
  • Divemaster classes are conducted at the student's own pace. Full certification can be achieved in as little as two weeks.

What equipment am I required to have?

Divemaster candidates are required to own their own BCD, regulator, mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, weights and safety devices. All of this equipment must be of a standard that is presentable as a diving professional. Divemaster candidates receive a discount on products purchased at the store.

The PADI Instructor Manual is useful though not included in the price of the course.

PADI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). You'll not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional but you'll also start learning the PADI System of diver education.

What can PADI Assistant Instructors do?

  • Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course

Assistant Instructor candidates must hold a Divemaster certification; be at least 18 years old; have 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives; and have been a certified diver for at least 6 months

Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations

Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations

PADI courses are recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education.

Credit recommendations include:

  • One semester hour, lower division credit for baccalaureate/associate degree in Recreation or Physical Education - Open Water Diver,
