DIVE SPECIALTIES

Altitude Diver

Any time you're diving from 300 to 3000 meters/1000 to 10,000 feet above sea level, you're altitude diving. If you want to explore the hidden world of a mountain lake, the PADI Altitude Diver Specialty course is for you.

Recommended course hours: 24

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation

The AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches divers, snorkelers and non-divers about the vital role coral reefs play in the marine environment and how these ecosystems are currently threatened.

AWARE - Fish Identification

This course will introduce you to the most common fish families and species found in temperate and tropical waters. You'll also learn basic fish identification and scientific survey techniques as well as how important personal involvement is in aquatic conservation.

Recommended course hours: 12 hours

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

Boat Diver

Through the PADI Boat Diver Specialty course, you can learn the techniques and procedures for diving from different types of boats. The more boats you're diving from, the more diving you're doing.

Cavern Diver

If you dive within the light zone of a cave, the area near the cave entrance where natural light is always visible, you're cavern diving. If you want to explore secrets hidden in caverns around the world you'll need your Cavern Diver certification.

Deep Diver

The Deep Diver Specialty course offers you the opportunity of a lifetime - safely going deep to see things others can only dream about.

Drift Diver

Drift Diving is effortless and relaxing because you simply glide with the current and feel the rush of flying underwater. But, with this type of diving come special procedures that you need to know so you can maximize your fun underwater.

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

Dry Suit Diver

This course is designed to be an introduction to dry suit diving and to help the student diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for dry suit diving.

Recommended course hours: 24

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

Enriched Air NITROX (EANx)

The course is designed to qualify recreational divers to use enriched air ("Nitrox") for no stop recreational diving. The program addresses the use of enriched air with 22 percent to 40 percent oxygen, with emphasis on enriched air with 32 percent and 36 percent oxygen.

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 Enriched Air Dives

Equipment Specialist

This course is designed to be an introduction to new types of equipment and to familiarize divers with the operation and maintenance of equipment.

Recommended course hours: 6 hours

Ice Diver

This course is designed to be an introduction to ice diving and to help the student diver develop skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for ice diving.

Recommended course hours: 24 hours

Minimum Open Water Training: 3 dives over two days

Multilevel Diver

This course is designed to be an introduction to multilevel diving and to help the student develop the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques.

Recommended course hours: 12 hours

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

Night Diver

When you go night diving, you'll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many underwater creatures and plant life (different from those you see during the day) are active at night.

Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course

If you want to fine-tune your buoyancy and soar over reefs, extend bottom time by reducing air consumption and prolong the life of your dive equipment, the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course is for you.

Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives

Project AWARE

The Project AWARE Specialty program is designed to familiarize divers and non divers with the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems. It also describes what individuals can do to help protect aquatic resources.

Search and Recovery Diver

Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost treasure? The Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface.

Minimum Open Water Training: 4 dives on 2 days

Semi closed Rebreather - Dolphin/Atlantis

This course is designed to introduce divers to the Drager Dolphin/Atlantis semi closed rebreather and develop the knowledge, skills and techniques necessary to use this type of rebreather.

Minimum Confined Water Training: 1 dive

Minimum Open Water Training: 3 dives

Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course

If you're interested in aquatic life then the Underwater Naturalist Specialty course is for you. This course is an introduction to the underwater aquatic environment and will help develop safe and responsible aquatic life interaction techniques.

Underwater Navigator

When you're underwater, knowing where you are and where you're going comes in handy, especially if you're looking for that beautiful reef that you've heard all about. The Underwater Navigator Specialty course will help you become a pro at finding your way underwater.

Underwater Photographer

The Underwater Photographer Specialty course can help you learn how to take your first underwater photographs or fine tune your existing skills to produce photographs that will stun your friends.

Do you want to show the underwater world to your land-based friends? Take the Underwater Videographer Specialty course and you'll learn the skills necessary to shoot your own underwater footage.

Wreck Diver

The lure of exploring sunken vessels, airplanes and automobiles is something most divers can't resist. The Wreck Diver Specialty course introduces you to wreck diving and helps you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and fun wreck diving.
